Greetham Retreat CL near Horncastle located in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds (AONB) was the national winner of the Caravan Clubs ‘CL of the Year’ competition in 2013. Caravan Club members who voted in 2012 and 2014 also made Greetham Retreat the regional winner for Central England in the ‘CL of the Year’ in both of these years.
Greetham Retreat is a beautiful and well equipped touring caravan site, in over four acres of tranquil grounds with wildlife ponds, wildflower meadows and woodland areas for guests enjoyment and recreation. Greetham Retreat Certificated Location (CL) opened in 2011 following Rob’s retirement from the Police Force in Leicestershire, when he and his wife Jeanette relocated to Lincolnshire. They built the CL site themselves during the autumn of 2010, planting some 650 trees. It now has five level hard standing pitches and one alternative grass pitch and includes a Club standard service point, heated shower and WC room and free WiFi. Greetham Retreat CL’s online booking website page has a pitch availability calendar and on-line booing facility.
In addition, the site Greetham Retreat also offers some superb self-catering holiday cottage accommodation which enables Caravan Club members to take holidays with friends or relatives who may not have a caravan themselves. Greetham Retreats’ luxury Lincolnshire holiday cottages by has been assessed by Visit England as achieving 4 stars for quality and also have the prestigious Gold Award for excellence. The cottages can accommodate either 2, 4 or 6 guests and if all five cottages are taken together they can sleep up to 16 people. All our cottages are in a delightful position around a lovely private courtyard area.
Jeanette’s background in customer services with Leicestershire Police and the National Farmers Union (NFU) ensures that guests receive a personal welcome. Rob or Jeanette are always keen to let guests know about all the facilities, places to visit, eat, walk your dog, dog friendly eateries and also answer any questions that members have.
This personal touch is something that they believe makes them different from many other sites. The owners love meeting people and helping them get the most out of their hard earned leisure time in this glorious area.
For those who enjoy wildlife, there are several nature reserves in the area including Snipe Dales, Gibraltar Point, Freiston Shore and in November and December, Europe’s largest colony of grey seals, along with their pups, can be seen at Donna Nook.
Of their win, Rob and Jeanette say, “We are so proud of our CL and amazed at the generosity of The Caravan Club members who have visited and voted for us. We thank you all so very much, this Award really means so much to us both.”
Jeanette continued, “We both very much enjoy seeing our guests relaxing, enjoying our CL and exploring the area. One of the reasons we decided upon this venture was due to Rob’s retirement from the Police. Too young to retire and wanting to do something creative, Rob’s attention to detail and tenacity led us to create something that has far exceeded our expectations.”
Greetham Retreat CL site is just one of over 2500 Caravan Club CL site throughout the UK.
